Each year, secondary students are challenged to expand their critical thinking skills and scientific knowledge by submitting a model or display that features a scientific concept of their choice. Whether the project stems from their study of biology, physics, chemistry, or another branch of natural science, this opportunity to organize and create their own presentation of the subject matter is one of the most valuable academic experiences our students receive.
This year’s Science Fair, displayed in the Student Life Center on January 6, after the Wednesday evening service showed a marked improvement in our students’ knowledge and application of the scientific method, according to the Science Fair judges, Mr. Ken Jones and Mr. Larry Cox. Though many of our studenst prepared excellent projects, some of the students who received outstanding grades include Kaitlyn Adams and Caleb Knight (physics-junior high), Matthew Brown and James Blackburn (physics-senior high), Rachel Brandon and Larry Cox (biology-junior high), Rachael Proctor and Cristen Hobbs (biology-senior high).
Special thanks to our science department for their diligent effort in helping our students strengthen their scientific knowledge and skills and to our parents for their invaluable and enthusiastic support.
